Rahul Shivshankar appointed editorial affairs director at CNN-News18

CNN-News18 has introduced a key editorial leadership change, appointing veteran journalist Rahul Shivshankar as its Editorial Affairs Director, entrusting him with overall responsibility for the channel’s newsroom operations.

Shivshankar, known for anchoring the prime-time show The Hard Facts, will formally commence his new responsibilities starting Monday. The appointment marks a key transition in the network’s leadership structure, reflecting its ongoing focus on strengthening editorial excellence.

Commenting on the new role, Santosh Menon, Chief Content Officer at Network18, said, “The baton of leadership of CNN-News18 will pass to Rahul Shivshankar, a journalistic veteran who is the host of the 9 pm show The Hard Facts. He has a track record of having led many TV newsrooms with aplomb, and I am sure he’ll consolidate and expand CNN-News18’s leadership as its Editorial Affairs Director.”

Shivshankar’s remit will include overseeing all editorial teams across CNN-News18, with input, output, production, and off-platform units reporting directly to him. Known as “the archetypal journalist,” he is also a prolific columnist and a published author.

The appointment comes amid wider leadership realignments within Network18, including shifts in roles for other senior editorial personnel.
