Prasar Bharati moves new content proposals to WAVES Bazaar, dropping NIPP, NIFFP

Prasar Bharati has decided to route its fresh content acquisition exclusively throughthe WAVES Bazaar digital marketplace, discontinuing submissions via earlier mechanisms such as the New Innovative Programme Proposals (NIPP) and the National Innovation Fund for Public Broadcasting (NIFFP).

In line with its Content Sourcing Policy 2024 and its broader digitalfirst strategy, all new programme and content proposals for Akashvani, Doordarshan channels and the WAVES OTT platform will now be processed through the WAVES ecosystem, with WAVES Bazaar serving as the central online hub for discovery, evaluation and dealmaking.

The move is aimed at streamlining workflows, reducing paperwork and enabling faster, more transparent selection of ideas from independent producers, studios and creative professionals, while aligning acquisitions with the payperview and digital distribution frameworks that underpin Prasar Bharati’s expansion into OTT and global streaming markets.

By consolidating submissions onto the WAVES Bazaar portal, Prasar Bharati also expects to deepen its engagement with younger, digitally native audiences, tap a wider international content pool, and provide creators with a single, structured interface instead of multiple legacy schemes like NIPP or NIFFP that will now be phased out for new proposals.
