BroadcastAsia 2026 concluded on May 22 at Singapore EXPO, closing out a three-day show that drew approximately 20,000 attendees from more than 110 countries. Running under the theme Shaping Media Revolution and Production Beyond Boundaries, the event , staged as part of the wider Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) festival , reinforced Singapore’s position as the Asia-Pacific region’s premier gathering for broadcast, media technology, and content infrastructure. Alongside BroadcastAsia, the co-located ATxEnterprise umbrella brought together CommunicAsia and three other specialist shows, pulling a combined audience of over 22,000 professionals , 75% at management level or above , making it one of the most commercially significant editions in the show’s history.

Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam graced the inauguration, while Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo delivered the headline keynote, focusing on agentic AI, enterprise adoption, and practical governance frameworks for deploying automation responsibly at scale. More than 450 speakers appeared across seven dedicated conference tracks, with sessions spanning AI-native broadcast transformation, 6G architecture debates, satellite-terrestrial integration, cloud-native production workflow design, and content monetization across OTT and linear platforms. The conference programme also addressed the commercial pressures reshaping Asian media markets: the acceleration of streaming adoption, the fragmentation of advertising revenues, and the competitive entry of platform-native content operators whose production economics differ fundamentally from those of legacy broadcasters.

The central narrative: Hardware-bound workflows give way
The clearest through-line across exhibitor floors and conference sessions alike was the accelerating shift from hardware-defined broadcast infrastructure toward software-defined, cloud-native, and AI-augmented production stacks. This was not a new argument at BroadcastAsia, but 2026 marked the year it moved from aspiration to demonstrated reality on the show floor, with multiple vendors unveiling commercially available platforms that validate the transition at every point in the production chain , from camera to contribution, switching, graphics, quality control, and distribution.

Octopus Newsroom unveiled Octopus 12 under its Newsroom in Motion positioning, with AI built directly into routine editorial and production tasks , a deliberate departure from the side-panel integrations that have characterized earlier newsroom AI deployments. The distinction matters: embedded AI that surfaces contextual assistance within editorial workflows represents a meaningfully different operating model from external AI tools that require users to actively switch contexts to access them. SipRadius launched a new AI media platform featuring Ferox Films, a generative approach to AI-driven content creation, signaling the entry of AI-native content tools into the broadcast-grade production conversation.

100G IP production and the democratization of high-end infrastructure
Blackmagic Design anchored its booth with the APAC debut of its 100G Ethernet production lineup, headlined by the URSA Cine 12K LF 100G and the URSA Cine Immersive 100G , positioned as the world’s first immersive cinema camera purpose-built for live broadcast. Paired with the newly announced Blackmagic Media Dock Ultra and the Fairlight Live software-based audio mixer, the company demonstrated an end-to-end IP broadcast stack that brings capabilities historically reserved for flagship-tier broadcasters within reach of mid-sized regional operators, sports producers, and post-production houses across Asia-Pacific. The democratization argument was explicit: Blackmagic’s pitch on the floor leaned heavily on the proposition that production infrastructure which once demanded capital outlays in the multi-crore range is now achievable at a fraction of the cost through software-defined workflows built on open IP standards.

Ross Video used BroadcastAsia 2026 as the first public APAC showcase of Vertex, its experiential technology platform, which sits atop a unified production stack in which switchers, graphics, robotics, and replay are presented as a single, integrated ecosystem rather than discrete hardware categories. The integrated workflow story marks a strategic shift in how Ross positions itself competitively: the argument is no longer about the performance of individual components, but about the operational efficiency gains of managing an entire production environment within a single orchestration layer.

LiveU returned with an expanded cloud-based IP live production toolkit, including a browser-based, broadcast-grade switcher supporting synchronized multi-camera production , a capability that extends professional live production to operators without the physical infrastructure of a traditional outside broadcast unit.

Titled Mastering Multiplatform Media with Unified Workflows, the session was moderated by Saleha Williams, CEO of IAMT, and brought together Paul Maroni, Vice President of Sales APAC at TAG Video Systems; Mark Johns, CEO of Switch Media; and Nick Forward, Head of Strategic Pursuits ANZ at Synamedia.

DRM Consortium and ABU: The future of digital radio in Asia-Pacific
The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium brought together member organizations including Fraunhofer IIS, Nautel, and RFmondial, alongside the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), to participate in discussions on the future of digital media and radio services across the region. The sessions addressed the state of digital radio adoption in Asia-Pacific markets, the technical and regulatory conditions required to accelerate deployment, and the role of the DRM standard in delivering high-quality digital audio services across both AM and FM bands. With several Asia-Pacific markets at varying stages of digital radio transition, the sessions provided a forum for broadcasters, regulators, and technology providers to align on the pathways and timelines for meaningful audience-scale deployment, and to showcase the latest developments in transmitter, receiver, and in-car digital radio technology from consortium members.

Industry body activity: IAMT launches MAI and new global platforms
Beyond its moderated panel session, IAMT used BroadcastAsia 2026 to announce a series of significant organizational and product launches. MAI, described as the industry’s first Association Agentic AI Model, was unveiled alongside the IAMT MarketPlace, an IAMT Visual Podcast Studio, and the formation of an IAMT Global Alliance. These initiatives position IAMT as an active participant in shaping how the broadcast industry collectively navigates the adoption of agentic AI, moving from a role of convening discussions to one of developing shared tools and platforms that member organizations can deploy across their operations.

BroadcastAsia 2026 leaves the industry with a clear directional signal: the competitive landscape in broadcast technology is being redrawn by vendors who can deliver AI capabilities as embedded workflow intelligence rather than add-on features, and by the transition to open IP infrastructure at speeds, now entering the 100G tier, that make the economics of software-defined production viable for a far broader base of operators across the Asia-Pacific region.
