Amit Chopra has stepped down from the role of President and Head – Ad Sales, a source in Star India has confirmed to insidesport.co.
Chopra will join private equity firm Samara Capital.
Positioned among the top five in Star TV hierarchy, Chopra was responsible for heading advertising revenues for entertainment, digital and sports. After joining Star India in 2013 as Lead Sales, he was moved to the position of Revenue Head, managing profits for distribution and ad sales after a year.
He has also served as CEO of Entertainment at Star supervising business delivery of drama and movie channels in Hindi, English, Marathi and Bengali languages.
Prior to his stints in Star India, Chopra was the CEO of Hindustan Media Ventures, a public listed arm of the HT Media Group.
An IIM, Ahmedabad, graduate, Chopra also holds a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. In a corporate career spanning over two decades, Chopra has also been a Marketing Manager with Hindustan Unilever Limited, where he was in-charge for the Brook Bond tea portfolio between July 2002 and July 2004.―Inside Sports
