Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has acquired the exclusive media rights to broadcast India’s Davis Cup tie against Denmark on March 4 and 5, 2022.

SPNI will broadcast the tournament on Sony TEN 2 channel across India and the subcontinent, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, as part of the agreement signed with the All India Tennis Association, as well as live-stream the tournament on their premium OTT platform, SonyLIV.

The Indian team includes Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, Rohan Bopanna, and Divij Sharan, and is led by captain Rohit Rajpal and coached by Zeeshan Ali. On the other hand, Mikael Torpegaard, Johannes Ingildsen, Christian Sigsgaard, and Elmer Mller will feature for Denmark.

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer, Distribution and Head – Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India, said, “We are pleased to acquire the media rights of the highly anticipated Davis Cup Tie between India & Denmark. With India being the host for the tournament, tennis fans in India are looking forward to watching Team India serve up Denmark with the home ground advantage. Our viewers will get to cheer on top Indian players like Rohit Rajpal, Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan who will be playing for their country.”

The Davis Cup World Group play-off match between India and Denmark will be held on the grass court of the Delhi Gymkhana Club.

Due to home-field advantage and Denmark’s current position on the points table, India enters the game as the favourite, which will boost the hosts’ confidence.

In the meantime, SPNI is also preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights e-auction, which will take place soon. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also planning to release the IPL media rights tender for the 2023-2027 cycle shortly. Sports Mint Media
