Punjab to install broadcasting systems in Government schools

Punjab Government has decided to install broadcasting systems in government senior secondary schools for optimum use of the potential of teaching and non-teaching staff.

“In the first phase, the broadcasting system will be installed in as many as 616 schools and a grant of Rs 1.54 crore has been released by the Education Department,” said the state Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Tuesday.

Singla said that the installation of a broadcasting system would reduce the workload on the staff of the schools and enable the principal to broadcast the directions to all the teachers, students and non-teaching staff in one go.

The Minister, sharing details, said that each system would cost around Rs 25,000 which would comprise an amplifier, a mike, a selective classroom multi-switch, individual speakers and required wire. “The amplifier, mike and selective switchboard will be kept in the room of the school principal and a speaker will be installed in every classroom for the purpose of broadcasting directions from time to time,” he said.

Singla added that it would enable the principal to broadcast the message in the school within minutes which would save time and energy of the staff. “The selective switchboard would further give the broadcaster to choose the number of classrooms while sending the message or directions,” said the Minister.

“After the installation of the broadcasting systems in the first phase, feedback will be obtained from the school staff regarding the efficiency, required updates, and effect on the learning process of the students. After evaluating the feedback, the Education Department would take the decision regarding the installation of this system in all government schools,” added the Minister.

The Minister said that the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh-led State Government has continuously been working to uplift the standard of education in the State which made Punjab leader in the school education sector across the country. He said that apart from the policies and reforms of their government, support and hard work of the whole staff of the Education Department has made it possible to achieve the top position in the country.
