Highlights – NAB Show 2024
The NAB 2024 is well underway in Las Vegas. The Convention Center is transformed into the epicenter of broadcast and media innovation. As a global destination for anything related to media, broadcast, and entertainment, this year’s show has released new products from an array of brands.
In its 101st year, it brings 65,000 registered attendees from the broadcast, media, and entertainment industries. Nearly three-quarters are buyers, and they wield a collective buying power of $17 billion. Attendees come from 162 countries across six continents, with 34 delegation buying groups from all across the world, and pump $138 million into southern Nevada’s economy according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The dynamic floor of the NAB Show brims with vendors introducing tools and applications that merge AI with third-party integrations to streamline production processes, thereby elevating efficiency and personalizing content.
Blackmagic Design is making waves showcasing its knack for innovative solutions in broadcasting and video production. A highlight at its booth is the Blackmagic Videohub 120×120 12G, a cutting-edge video router that’s all about efficiency and high performance. And PYXIS 6K Cinema Camera stands out for its precise engineering tailored to meet the specific needs of professional filmmakers.
Panasonic has unveiled a firmware update for the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX cameras that is expected to enhance its capabilities and user experience. This update brings a host of new features to these popular models, which were first released in January 2023. With improvements such as Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration, AI-powered autofocus enhancements, video proxy recording, expanded video E-Stabilization, and pre-burst shooting, these cameras are set to become even more versatile tools for content creation.
Ross Video celebrated its 50th anniversary on the opening day of 2024 NAB Show by showcasing its latest innovations in hyperconverged infrastructure, cloud technology, extended reality (XR) solutions, graphics, production switchers, and newsroom production workflows. Ross Video also announced the acquisition of Bannister Lake, giving the company an HTML5 graphics solution.
Grass Valley presented a wide array of product updates and innovations across the media production landscape. The company has recently completed a strategic refinancing of $220 million with Morgan Stanley, positioning the company for accelerated growth and innovation.
A key element of the ATSC booth is a representative display of NextGen TV products from television makers Samsung, Sony Electronics, Hisense and TCL, and accessory devices from ADTH, Stavix, Velo, Zapperbox and Zinwell that are already available or coming soon as affordable options for viewers looking to upgrade to NextGen TV.
The event has once again proved to be a pivotal arena for media and film advancements. The introductions are setting new industry standards, highlighting the show’s enduring role as a critical launchpad for cutting-edge technology in the media landscape.
