Formula 1 and DAZN sign multi-year partnership to broadcast F1 in Japan

Formula 1 has today announced a new multi-year partnership with DAZN to broadcast Formula 1 in Japan through to 2025.
The agreement, which begins ahead of the 2023 season, will give DAZN rights to broadcast all 23 race weekends including practice and qualifying sessions, F1 Sprint events and Grand Prix, plus highlights to their customers in Japan.

Additionally, DAZN will provide three days of full coverage of pre-season testing in Bahrain. Fans will have the opportunity to follow all 20 drivers, including hometown hero Yuki Tsunoda, as they take to the track ahead of the season opener in Bahrain on 5th March.

The 2023 season will feature a 23-race schedule across five continents, including the FORMULA 1 LENOVO JAPANESE GRAND PRIX and the inaugural FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX.

In addition to broadcasting the FIA Formula 1 Championship, DAZN will also show the FIA Formula 2 Championship – featuring Japanese driver Ayumu Iwasa, and FIA Formula 3 Championship races, as well as the popular Formula 1 support series, the Porsche Supercup.

Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1, said:
“Japan is a historic market for Formula 1 with some of the most passionate fans in the world, and we are delighted to announce this partnership with DAZN for them to continue to broadcast Formula 1 for the next three years. As Formula 1 continues to grow and attract new fans in Asia and around the world, it is vital that the broadcasting of our events is of the highest standard. Over the next three season, we look forward to working with DAZN to ensure our fans continue to enjoy the spectacle and entertainment of Formula 1.”

Manabu Yamada, Executive Vice President at DAZN Japan, said:
“Formula 1 has been one of the most popular pieces of content for DAZN Japan and we are excited to have our partnership extended for the next 3 seasons to provide the best of the sport to the Japanese fans. DAZN Japan is fully committed to showcase the entire excitement of Formula 1 by not only broadcasting all sessions live, but through our original multiscreen viewing “F1 ZONE” where fans can watch multiangled views from the racetrack as well as from driver POVs and live data all in one viewing. We look very much forward in bringing many more exciting seasons of Formula 1 to our fans.” BCS Bureau
