CMC Networks launches enterprise broadband wireless in South Africa

CMC Networks announced on Tuesday it has launched its Air Connect solution in South Africa, which promises to deliver broadband wireless connectivity to businesses in remote and rugged environments.

CMC Networks says its Air Connect service leverages wireless technology to provide businesses with robust and stable connectivity across varying landscapes in South Africa, including rural farmland, sparse deserts, and rugged terrains.

The service offers data speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to over 500 Mbps, depending on business requirements. The operator says Air Connect can be installed within three to ten days.

CMC Networks is positioning the service as a stopgap for customers awaiting a fibre build, providing a rapid temporary deployment to minimise network downtime. Once fibre connectivity is available, CMC Networks says Air Connect can still serve as an active backup with an SD-WAN overlay deployment, which would increase network resilience, redundancy and uptime.

“[Air Connect] provides our customers with a wider selection of connectivity options to add redundancy to their networks, helping to keep their businesses up and running no matter the circumstances,” said CMC Networks CEO Marisa Trisolino.

“Air Connect is a fully scalable solution to fit our customers’ unique business needs, with rapid installation, high-speed connectivity, increased network uptime and reliability,” said CMC Networks CTO Geoff Dornan. Developing Telecoms
