Twitch will Broadcast live Tokyo Olympics content owing to partnership with NBC

Twitch is definitely the biggest live streaming service in the world at the moment. Despite severe competition from YouTube and Facebook Gaming, it has remained on the top and is the priority of anyone who aspires to be a streamer. Moreover, the platform regularly broadcasts Esports competitions for fans around the world

Twitch has now joined forces with NBC Olympics to bring special content around the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. The event was originally supposed to take place in July 2020, but was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Accordingly, the Tokyo Olympics will now begin on July 23 and end on August 8, 2021.

What to expect from the Tokyo Olympics broadcasts on Twitch
NBC Olympics has partnered with Twitch with an aim to reach a younger audience. The Tokyo Olympics will be live on an NBC Olympic Twitch channel and will attract young minds who wish to interact with the content they see.

NBC Olympics informed the fans about the same in a recent tweet:

The NBC Olympics channel will launch a week before the games and will remain live during the entire event.

Apart from the exciting sports content, the Twitch broadcast will include highlight-based studio shows, interviews, pre-Olympics activation, and Olympic-themed gaming competitions.

In a show named “Keep the Torch Alive”, viewers will be able to collect items in the week before the commencement of the games. This show will then combine with the “Light the Cauldron” on the opening ceremony. Interestingly, the Twitch channel will also host a party before the actual event begins.

Furthermore, there will be daily interactive highlight shows with polls and live AMAs. Twitch viewers can take part in online competitions and win a chance to earn medals. A live stream will run alongside NBC’s prime-time broadcast, where the Twitch community can talk about the event. Lastly, a “Live from Tokyo” event will feature athlete interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

The partnership between Twitch and NBC is a delight for sports fans, to the say the least. The biggest sports event in the world will reach a much larger audience now and become more interactive than ever.

While many Twitch users seemed happy with the arrival of Olympics on the platform, others have used this opportunity to criticize the ongoing ‘hot-tub’ meta even more. As per these fans, the streaming service should first take action on the existing ‘problematic’ content creators like ‘hot-tub’ streams, and then partner with other corporations such as NBC.
