LiveSwitch selected as an Akamai qualified computing partner

LiveSwitch announced it was selected to join the Akamai Qualified Computing Partner Program to provide WebRTC capabilities for Akamai cloud computing based on Linode.

Earlier this year, Akamai acquired Linode, which provides the cloud infrastructure that developers use to build and host their applications and data. Through the Akamai Qualified Computing Partner Program, Akamai’s Linode customers will have seamless access to LiveSwitch’s video streaming infrastructure to power engaging, interactive real-time communications experiences within their applications.

“The LiveSwitch team is pleased to be a WebRTC partner for Akamai cloud computing based on Linode,” said LiveSwitch CEO and co-founder Jerod Venema. “The Linode stack is dynamic in nature and allows us to scale rapidly as our demands change. In addition, we can use distributed compute to get closer to our end users. We’re excited to be able to take advantage of those capabilities, and for the broader opportunities this partnership brings to the table for both organizations,” Venema added.

LiveSwitch’s enterprise-grade live video streaming platform enables businesses to incorporate flexible, scalable, and high-quality interactive live video, audio, and data on nearly any computer, tablet, phone, or smart device.

“LiveSwitch joining the Akamai Qualified Computing Partner Program makes WebRTC’s powerful capabilities easily available to Akamai customers,” said Matt Berk, Vice President, Cloud Computing, Akamai. “Now, developers can build the types of live, immersive video experiences for which WebRTC is known, and scale them globally while still maintaining low latency and high security across the Akamai Intelligent Platform.”

LiveSwitch powers some of the largest video experiences on the web for companies like Adobe and Deutsche Telekom. Additionally, through a partnership with The Famous Group, LiveSwitch enables interactive entertainment experiences for the NFL, NHL, and MLB.

The Akamai Qualified Computing Partner Program is designed to make solution-based services that are interoperable with Akamai cloud computing based on Linode easily available to Akamai customers. The services are provided by Akamai technology partners and complete a thorough qualification process to ensure they are readily available to deploy and scale across the globally distributed Akamai Intelligent Platform.
