ImageVocas Systems launches a DSLR product range

Vocas Systems has expanded their product range with accessories specifically designed for these DSLR style cameras.

The base of this product range is a 15mm rail support system that can be mounted underneath the DSLR cameras on which all sorts of 15mm accessories can be attached.

This 15mm rail system is a standard in the DV and broadcast camera market and as such there are already a lot of compatible accessories available for this support system, for instance compact matte-boxes and follow focus equipment.

New 15mm accessories that are ideal for DSLR setups which Vocas Systems have developed include:

  • A handgrip system featuring padded real leather handgrips which can be mounted at any point on the 15mm rails of the support system for an optimal economical setup.
  • A shoulder support that fits directly on the back end of the 15mm rails.
  • This shoulder support features a thick rubber pad which even let a heavy camera setup rest comfortably on your shoulder.
  • A 15mm offset bracket specifically made for the shoulder support.
  • This offset bracket moves the shoulder support more to the side of the camera.
  • This is especially useful for cameras with a central placed viewfinder such as DSLR cameras.
  • Combining these 15mm accessories allows a range of different setups to fit each situation.

ImageSony reveals HDCAM-SR strategy

The latest HDCAM-SR roadmap has been announced to deliver camcorder for life: the new SRW-9000 has started shipping, at a keen price point and offering future upgrade path, open and efficient file-based workflow with MXF and SR lite, workflow benefits with EDL data and color correction using CDL files, announcement of new SR memory as media of future, and strong tape archive strategy and realignment of SR media pricing.

Delivering new opportunities for high end acquisition and post production, Sony's HDCAM-SR technology is set to go beyond today's quality standards and bring the benefits of file-based SR operations at a more cost-effective price point.

For the high-end user, the roadmap delivers the next evolution in SR beyond today's quality standards and the arrival of new products and solutions to deliver file-based acquisition and production. For the more mainstream market, Sony delivers an SR strategy that brings the benefits of file-based SR operations at a more cost-effective price point. The scale of the developments is unprecedented in the history of the format.

Launched at NAB 2009 as the next generation of digital 24P technology, Sony's SRW-9000 combines the format's renowned image quality with the versatility of a one-piece camcorder. Within the industry, the SRW-9000 is recognized as the highest quality 2/3'' camcorder on the market

"While SR is already a file-based format, supporting data recording in 4K and DPX today, file-based recording continues to gain momentum and the move to non-linear acquisition is also becoming increasingly important. Therefore Sony is committing to a future upgrade path to SR memory for the SRW-9000," explained Paul Maroni, Assistant General Manager, Broadcast and Content Creation Marketing, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific.

New Viz Video Hub version 2.0 from Vizrt

Vizrt has introduced the upgraded version 2.0 of its Viz Video Hub plug-and-play asset management (MAM) system. Among other significant enhancements, version 2.0 provides extended support for archiving through a tape robot feature. The tape robot support enables broadcasters to archive huge amounts of video assets directly within Viz Video Hub. And it can serve as a long-term storage solution because the tape robot hardware exchanges outdated tapes automatically.

The new version is also now integrated with Avid's news cutter video editing software, so that users can leverage Viz Video Hub with the popular non-linear editing (NLE) software.

"Viz Video Hub 2.0 helps media organizations maximize the value of their media assets by making them easily accessible throughout the organization," said Petter Ole Jakobsen, chief technology officer of Vizrt. "The new Avid NLE integration is extremely smooth and the tape robot feature greatly increases its storage capacity, making this a system capable of storing huge amounts of video. We are extremely enthusiastic about the possibilities this system creates for our customers.

"Viz Video Hub is a scalable, upgradeable system for IT-based production and archiving. It can serve as the anchor for the entire Vizrt workflow, spanning newsrooms, editing stations, channel branding, control rooms, and every production task from ingest to playout. The software includes capabilities for ingest and playout, transcoding, browsing, and craft editing.

With its support for Viz Link workflow, Viz Video Hub 2.0 allows graphics solutions, including the Viz Trio HD/SD CG graphics engine, Viz Content Pilot for real-time template-based graphics creation, and Viz multi-channel for channel branding, to search for video clips on the MAM storage, retrieve and edit them, and add them to graphics and templates.

The Viz Link support enables video assets contained in the Viz Video Hub to be quickly and easily retrieved and repurposed by Vizrt graphics solutions such as Viz Content Pilot, Viz Multi-channel and Viz Trio. Additionally, the video assets of Viz Video Hub can be directly accessed from within the Escenic Content Studio software for managing and publishing media content to web, mobile, and other new media distribution platforms.

With the integration of Viz Video Hub 2.0 and Viz Escenic Content Studio, web journalists can now search and add video content stored within the Viz Video Hub to their online news stories directly from the Escenic Content Studio interface.
