Emerging Technologies Paving the Path Forward

Priyanka Tyagi, Media Management Head, Sadhana Media Ltd.

Broadcasting is the distribution of audio and video content to a dispersed audience via any audio visual medium. The receiving party may include the general public or a relatively large subset of people thereof. It could also be for the purpose of personal recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, experimentation, self-training, and emergency communication such as amateur radio and amateur television (ATV).Image

The term broadcast was first adopted by radio engineers from the United States. Broadcasting is a very large and significant segment of the mass media. Originally all broadcasting was composed of analog signals using analog transmission techniques. But more recently broadcasters have switched to digital signals using digital transmission.

Emerging technologies include contemporary advances and innovation in various fields of broadcasting. Various converging technologies have emerged in different systems evolving toward similar goals. Convergence can refer to technologies such as voice (and telephony features), data (and productivity applications), and video that now share resources and interact with each other, creating new efficiencies.

Technological innovations represent progressive developments within a field for competitive advantage and converging technologies fields which are in some way moving toward stronger inter-connection and similar goals. However, the opinion on the degree of impact, status, and economic viability of several emerging and converging technologies varies.
