Objective

A remarkable achievement to install the News Channel (24 hours of live bulletin, current affairs). Our shared objective was to make sure that Day & Night staff are equipped with and trained on the latest media tools and technologies to provide serious competitive advantages by increasing the speed and efficiency of the News process. We provided the complete IT and studio solution.

Solution

The solution is designed based on QT being the production format. It's been added to keep in mind the future requirement. The proposed Canopus can be used for SD ingest & playout provided the necessary storage throughput. Once they plan to shift completely to HD, they just need to increase the Promise Storage boxes to meet their upcoming requirement.

APPLE SOLUTION. XSERVER: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem processor. Its single-die, 64-bit architecture makes 8MB of fully shared L3 cache readily available to each of the four processor cores. The new Xserve delivers a 19 percent reduction in idle power consumption.

MACPRO. The new Mac Pro offers two advanced processor options from Intel. The Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor is available in a single-processor, quad-core configuration, at speeds up to 3.2GHz.

For storage

XSAN is a 64-bit cluster file system specifically designed for small and large computing environments that demand the highest level of data availability. This specialized technology enables multiple Mac desktop and Xserve systems to share RAID storage volumes over a high-speed Fibre Channel network. Each client can read and write directly to the centralized file system, accelerating user productivity while improving workgroup collaboration.

PROMISE VTRAK. Configure Promise VTrak RAIDs for best performance. Promise VTrak RAIDs may be manually configured.

Manipulation of text is a particularly notable feature of Viz|Artist. Extraordinary high-end effects can be achieved for real-time promos, trailers and title sequences, as well as overlays for live events.
